Gå På
Wargames rules for the War of the Spanish Succession
and the Great northern war
"Gå på" is the Swedish command phrase for infantry attack in
the early 18th century, and also the term used to describe the spirit
and tactics of the Swedish army in English language literature.
It is also the name of one of the most successful miniature wargames
for the WSS and GNW. The rules model the differences between the varying
tactics, and uses the battalion as the basic unit, as this was the
smallest tactical unit in battles of the period.
The rules are not designed for any particular miniature scale, and
basing is rather free, allowing you to use whatever miniatures you
desire.
The rules use a rather abstract system to capture the atmosphere of
the 18th century battlefield, but still contain enough detail to give
the different armies character. Included in the main rules you will find
a number of basic army lists for the major combatants. If you want more
detail, and more armies, the companion Army Lists book contains a wealth
of information - portraying all armies involved in the two conflicts,
plus a few more, including Jacobites and Ottomans.
